From Quadrant, "Lysenkoism and Climate Science,"
Lysenkoism damaged mainly Soviet science and society, whereas Hansenism has now been exerting its pernicious influence worldwide for more than twenty years. The climate alarmism involved has long been undermining the precious public trust from which science draws its traditional influence and sustenance, and now Climategate has opened up new sinkholes all over the place.
Hansenist climate alarmism has also damaged the standing of many leading science journals and science organizations, which have replaced their formerly careful editorial and organizational balance with environmental alarmism and naked global warming advocacy.
There are other examples of neo-Lysenkoism such as the acid rain and alar panics of the 1980s.
Contrary to the lies of the Fake News matrix, real life versions of Robert Stadler and Floyd Ferris are not scientists.
Hopefully, someday reason will triumph over government funded "science."
Bill Nye....hmmm, perhaps as the new Trotsky:
ReplyDelete"Comrades, none of us wishes or is able to be right against his Party. The Party in the last analysis is always right, because the Party is the sole political instrument of the proletariat for the solution of its basic problems...I know that one cannot be right against the party. It is only possible to be right with the Party and through the Party for history has not created other ways for the realization of what is right."
Science is supposed to be about induction, reasoning from observation, experimentation, etc. to conclusions. Debate is supposed to be about whether the methodology is correctly applied. If it is, then the conclusions are true. If not, conclusions are rejected.
ReplyDeleteLeftists have tried to make science deductive, as in, conclusion oriented. Championed by Stalin's pet scientist Trofim Denisovich Lysenko, debate is centered on whether proposed conclusions is acceptable to a specific ideological outlook. If politically correct, conclusions are accepted. If not, then conclusions are rejected and their proponents silenced, one way or another.
In the former Soviet Union, dissenting scientists were sent to the Gulag. In the U.S. leftists have to settle for character assassination and/or legal harassment.
I think I remember when professions of 'consensus' were emotional devices - proof of nothing, the bane of skeptics, and indicative of ulterior motives.
ReplyDeleteEnvironmentalism is a false virtue. It's a religion and Bill Nye and Kneal deGas Tyson are prelates, bishops, in green miters. Their denunciations of their opponents use the verbiage of the Inquistion, and the methods of Saul Alinsky.
For these refugees from the nitrogen cycle, proof is unreasonable. And "computer models" rooted on faulty and manufactured "data" are their totems.
Despite exposure of the IPCC / Univ. of East Anglia fraud, the green priesthood rolls on without censure or remorse, inveterate.
Once everything is "settled", to leftists' liking, and there's "consensus", to leftists' satisfaction - then it's time to march the dissenters off to re-education and the gulags. Short of that, "no" doesn't mean "no", it means try again later, till you get your way.
